Children and Youth who live in care may have some vulnerabilities related to the situations that have caused them to come into the care of the Ministry of Children and Families. During this year, SD 38 worked to develop a process to identify, track and prioritize the needs of the Children and Youth who live in care. Within the district, there are 70 students who live in the care of the Ministry of Children and Families or a Delegated Aboriginal Agency (VACFAS). ÌýSchool Administrators were trained in the Cross-Ministry Guidelines between the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Children and Families, and began a process of monthly reporting on several focused areas.

Joint Educational Planning and Support for Childresn and Youth in Care

The number of Children and Youth in Care has increased slightly this year. The data collected this Ìýyear from school administrators forms baseline data from which we can measure improvements or determine additional supportive structures.
